Here, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/cathy-herbrand-14065072\/\">Cathy Herbrand<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/eva-van-steijvoort-69125088\/\">Eva Van Steijvoort<\/a> start the event by introducing the ESHRE members who have put it together. This included sessions on Expanded Carrier Screening in medically-assisted reproduction, chaired by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/antonio-capalbo-5a169a35\/\">Antonio Capalbo<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/mariana-moura-ramos-32856721\/\">Mariana Moura Ramos<\/a>, and Implementation of ECS, chaired by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/efi-constantinou-1ba0b46a\/\">Efi Constantinou<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/verena-ehrbar-a6a1bb199\/\">Verena Ehrbar<\/a>. Her talk is based on work by the PRECAS Project, looking at the different ways that UK clinics approach using gametes tested with ECS: &#8220;Expanded carrier screening and gamete donation &#8211; understanding the complexities for UK fertility clinics&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/precas.dmu.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/cathy-pet-1024x712.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-796 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-small-font-size\">The PRECAS Project sponsored a stream at PET Conference, December 2025, <em>Expanded Carrier Screening: How Is It Used? What Are the Ethical Implications?<\/em> Here, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/cathy-herbrand-14065072\/\">Cathy Herbrand<\/a> completes the four presentations about expanded carrier screening, implementation and policy in the UK before the four presenters discuss ECS and take questions. We thank Sara Levene, Jackson Kirkman-Brown and Heidi Mertes for taking part, and Sarah Norcross and PET for organising it. This looked at the use of &#8216;genetic compatibility test&#8217; to describe expanded carrier screening, and exploring its implications. The United Kingdom National External Quality Assessment Service is a not-for-profit consortium of expert centers, mostly NHS-based, providing comprehensive external quality assessment (EQA) and proficiency testing for clinical laboratories globally, ensuring accuracy in diagnostic tests.
