How to take part

Looking for couples who used preconception screening tests:

We are looking for UK couples who have used (or plan to use) screening tests before pregnancy to take part in a research project. The screening tests – also called ‘preconception expanded carrier screening (ECS)’ – are used to find out if individuals are carriers of faulty genes that might be passed on to their children and cause genetic disorders. Could you help by telling us about your experience? Our research project explores how people decide to use the test, the experience of the testing and what people decide after getting the results.

It involves one interview (usually lasting around 90 minutes) in a location convenient to you both, or by online video call if you prefer.

To take part, you would need to have no family history of heritable genetic disorders and have used, or be about to use, ECS before pregnancy. The interview is completely confidential and there is a small thank you gift for taking part. If you’d like to find out more, without any obligation to take part, please contact us at kriss.fearon@dmu.ac.uk.
